Luis H. Francia was born and raised in Manila and now resides in New York
City. He is the author of a book of essays, two poetry collections, and editor of
two landmark anthologies of Filipino American literature. An anthology of works that
deal with the aftermath of the 1899 Philippine-American War, Vestiges of War,
edited with Angel Velasco Shaw, is forthcoming in fall 2000. He teaches Asian American
literature at Sarah Lawrence College.
