Denise Uyehara is an interdisciplinary performance artist, writer, and playwright whose work has been presented across the United States and in London, Tokyo, Vancouver, Helsinki, and China. She is a founding member of the Sacred Naked Nature Girls and creator of the Rad Asians performance workshop series. She was a Poets & Writers "Writer on Site" resident artist at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the Beyond Baroque Literary Center. She was the recipient of an Asian Cultural Council fellowship, the Brody Arts Fellowship, and grants from the City of Los Angeles and the California Civil Liberties Public Education Project. She continues as a member of the California Arts Council Touring Roster. In addition to engaging in public art investigations that encourage public response, she has served as a guest instructor in performance at the University of California at Irvine, where she also received a B.A. in Comparative Literature.
